Hello Friend,
I'm writing this from my new/old home in Sitka, Alaska, where the sun is painting the mountains in shades of pink, just breaking through the thick cloak of clouds. I’ve spent the last week packing up my home on an island about 90 miles away and traveling here on a fishing boat. We moved from this house 4 years ago and it is such a feeling of déjà vu being back here. It’s a place where I experienced some intense times of life and after a few days of unpacking I noticed that I was feeling uneasy and grumpy. I suddenly realized that I hadn’t been outside for any length of time for a few days. I was trying to push through and get all the work done. My nervous system didn’t like that. I didn’t feel safe and old memories and emotions were arising.
Time to head out for a hike! Hearing the birds, seeing the mist swirling around the trees, feeling my body moving against the gravity of Earth, and my breaths coming in and out… Nature is medicine. It's one of the most powerful tools we have for regulating our nervous systems and creating lives that feel aligned, joyful, and deeply our own.
I'm Darcie, and I'm a life coach who focuses on nervous system resiliency. I help people discover how to live with intention, prioritize themselves while caring for others, and create the life they've been dreaming of by healing and tuning into the wisdom of their own nervous system.

Your Nervous System: The Common Denominator
Here's what I've learned through my own journey and years of working with clients: your nervous system is the common denominator in everything. It influences how you make decisions, how you respond to stress, how you show up in relationships, and whether you feel safe enough to go after your dreams.
When your nervous system is dysregulated, everything feels harder. You might know what you want to do but feel paralyzed. You might start projects but struggle to finish them. You might feel overwhelmed by choices or find yourself people-pleasing instead of speaking your truth.
But when you learn to regulate your nervous system, to recognize its signals and respond with wisdom, everything shifts. You become more resilient, more creative, more able to take aligned action. You can hold your desires and your responsibilities without feeling torn in two.
This is where nature becomes such a powerful ally. Living in Alaska has shown me how spending time outdoors naturally regulates our nervous systems. The rhythm of seasons, the vastness of landscapes, the simple act of breathing forest air, are essential tools for nervous system health.
